Over 22,000 visitors from all corners of India thronged the venue to look at the impressive line up of technology required to make a fine garment. The choice of the venue being close to the garmenting hub at Okhla and proximity to other centers like Faridabad, Noida, Gandhinagar, etc also played an important role in the huge visitor turnout.
The fair has been held from 16th to 19th Jan. 2009, at NSIC Exhibition Centre, Okhla, New Delhi has grown considerably since its initiation in 2001 when it was conducted in an area of just 5,670 sq. metres. Though this year the participation was comparatively less than the previous editions due to tough market conditions, organizers are confident that the fair, spread over 20,000 sq. metres, will create new business opportunities for suppliers and manufacturers alike. “No doubt the time is tough, but nobody will stop wearing clothes or avoid dressing up for occasions, so the industry can never die. Players will have to upgrade themselves to meet new standards and benchmarks in manufacturing. Thus, we look forward to a successful show in Delhi,” affirmed Inderjit Sahni MD, GTE.
